Emergency landing during Hamilton Air Show

There were some anxious moments at Hamilton’s John C. Munro International Airport yesterday afternoon.

Shortly after the Hamilton Air Show began, a plane was forced to make an emergency landing after pilots experienced smoke in the cockpit.

The Dakota DC-3, which is owned by the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum, had to dump fuel as it circled the airport before safely landing.

A mechanical issue with one of the plane’s engines is to blame.  None of the crew or the parachutists who were on board were injured in the landing.
