The Pan Am Games open one week from tonight. Between the Pan Am and Parapan Games there are 1.4-million tickets up for grabs and while more than half of those tickets are still available. Officials say sales are ramping up but as Jeyan Jeganathan explains the Pan Am Games may be off to a slow start.

While no events have actually been sold out, there are limited tickets for events like figure skating and bowling. Its not clear if pan officials will be giving away tickets to events like soccer in hopes of filling up seats.

It seems wherever you look these days across the City of Hamilton. You are reminded that the Pan Am Games are almost here.

Hamilton is host to one of the highest profile sports in the Pan Am games; soccer. Just like any sporting event, tickets usually sell out for gold medal and semi-final matches.

But overall, ticket sales are less than 50 percent sold.

Greg Maychak, Manager of Pan Am Initiatives for the city of Hamilton, is optimistic. “I went to go purchase tickets for Canada vs Brazil on July 12th. It’s difficult to get seats together. There are only singles and the odd pairing.”
