The Six Nations fire and police departments are looking for a suspected arsonist after a series of suspicious fires. Within the last 4 months there have been 6 suspicious fires, all within 10 km of each other. Six Nations fire and police, along with the Ontario Fire Marshal’s office are now working together to try to catch this arsonist.

“Every one of these fires that we have been to, there is no other explainable reason for it to start other than someone having to set it.” Matthew Miller, Six Nations fire chief.

Most of the fires were set at night to abandoned properties and with only 17 firefighters, who are all volunteers, the Six Nations fire department is already stretched thin.

The Ontario Fire Marshal asked the Six Nations fire department to look into fires from the last 12 months and they found another 2 that may be also connected, which would bring the number of suspicious fires up to 8.

Anyone with any information about these fires is being asked to call police.
