There was quite the soaker Sunday night into Monday morning after a significant dry spell and the rain continued for much of Monday. Since Sunday night, as much as 30 millimetres of rain has fallen in the Hamilton region. Because of the significant amount of rain, conservation authorities are warning people to keep a close eye on children and pets when walking near waterways.
After the dry few weeks that have passed, many people were glad for the rain to water their lawns or farms. But the amount of rain meant cancelling games Monday night for the Mount Hamilton Youth Soccer Club and all the public sports field in the City of Hamilton were closed.
The next weather threat to enter the area is thunderstorms, which are expected into Monday night and Tuesday during the day.
