A new deal between the Carpenters Union and the City of Hamilton could save taxpayers millions of dollars. The new arrangement will allow the city to accept bids for municipal projects, from non-unionized contractors as long as the Carpenters Union is considered for part of the work; the deal which took over a year to negotiate will allow for more competition, but could mean big savings for the city.
