7.8 Magnitude Earthquake hits Nepal

A 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit Nepal today around noon, local time.
It rolled through Nepal’s densely populated Kathmandu Valley.
The death toll is at 688 and rising. Included in the death toll are a group of climbers at a Mount Everest base camp who died in a quake-triggered avalanche.
Rescue efforts are now underway to find countless missing people in the rubble.
The Emergency Watch and Response Centre in Ottawa and Canadian offices abroad are working with local authorities to help Canadians in Nepal.
