Hamilton YWCA honours CHCH’s Annette Hamm

A big reason for celebration happening tonight in Hamilton.

The annual YWCA Women of Distinction awards were handed out this evening at Carmen’s Banquet Centre. The event honoured the accomplishments of 43 women in the Hamilton area this year.

The nominees come from a range of different industries and backgrounds, and this year another member of the CHCH News team was a winner. Morning Live‘s Annette Hamm was chosen in her category.

“I’ve just learned so much about our community and how fabulous it is from working with these agencies. It has helped shape my perception of this fabulous, fabulous city.”

Annette’s was not the only familiar face: Olympic gold medal hockey player Laura Fortino was also honoured.

“I want to thank all the female role models that have empowered me to be a leader, and especially my mom, who is a champion for women of all ages, and an advocate for physical well-being.”

The awards have been handed out each year since 1975.
