On this International Day of Pink, a day that raises awareness about bullying, a disturbing video has surfaced of an 18-year old slamming a teen girl onto the ground. The violent video emerged on social media last night, and the young man has been charged with assault.

Students at the school where the incident took place are outraged. The girls friends, who saw it happen, say they still can’t believe they witnessed such violence so close to home. It’s violence like most have never seen before – an 18 year old man picking up a 15 year old girl and throwing her to the ground.

“I honestly didn’t know what to think. We just made sure she was ok and called the ambulance.” said one witness.

The video was taken on Wexford road and friends of the victim say that she didn’t know the guy who picked her up and threw her to the ground, but they say it was an argument on twitter that sparked it all.

When police arrived, they found the teen girl unconscious on the ground. She was taken to hospital after regaining consciousness. She told friends she had a concussion and some back pain today.

“She called me today and said she is fine but not coming to school for a while” said one friend today.

18 year old Joshua Gordon is facing charges. His mother spoke to the media. “As a mother I was hurt. For the girl last night, I was saying thanks to God that nothing happened to her. In a sense he is wrong, I’m not going to give him the right to say right – but someone could have stopped it before it escalated further.”

A 16 year old boy who can’t be identified because of his age is also facing charges.

The victim goes to Heart Lake Secondary School in Brampton. Today students react to the violent crime most saw online. “It’s disgusting that some guy would do that to anyone especially in this day and age. People should be able to talk and sort it out.”

Police say the video is helping the investigation.
