Two men are dead and a third is injured after an altercation in an east-end Toronto McDonald’s escalated and multiple shots were fired early Saturday morning.
Toronto police say an armed security guard who was apparently in the restaurant to buy food fired his firearm following a “significant physical altercation” with two men.
Police say there were between 15 and 20 customers and staff in the McDonald’s at the time of the incident just before 3 am.
Police say the two unidentified men, believed to be between 25 and 40-years-old, were pronounced dead at the scene.
The security guard was taken to hospital for treatment of a hand injury.
Detective sergeant from the Toronto Homicide Unit, Terry Browne, says no arrests have been made.
Browne says it is a “very complicated and complex investigation.” He says the injured security guard is cooperating with police.
Browne says they are trying to contact the family of the two men who were killed to confirm who they are.
Investigators are going through security video of the incident.
