Hamilton boy giving back to the community

While many kids dream of being showered with toys on their 10th birthday, one Hamilton boy has decided to skip the presents this year and give back to the community instead.
Andrew Maraj was born prematurely, and was in and out of the neonatal ward at Trillium Hospital in Mississauga for the first year of his life. Instead of presents, Andrew asked his friends to bring donations to his birthday party, to go toward the neonatal centre at McMaster Children’s Hospital.
15 hundred infants are admitted to the unit each year. Clinical manager of neonatal nurseries Carrie-Lynn Meyer says government funding doesn’t go far enough so donations are vital. She say Andrews $575.00 donation is enough money to purchase some medical equipment.
