A Toronto man has pleaded guilty to aggravated assault after hitting a woman with his car in the summer of 2016.

Douvainn Dean, 22, will be spending 30 months in jail after intentionally hitting and injuring Tundwa Kalonga on July 3.

The incident happened around 8:25 p.m. in an empty parking lot on Main Street East and Hughson Street South.

Police say Dean wanted Kalonga to be a sex worker, but after a disagreement he hit her with his car and drove off.

Kalonga, who has no ties to Hamilton, suffered a broken leg and still has lasting injuries till this day.

In a joint investigation with Toronto police, Hamilton police was able to arrest Dean last year.

He is also facing advertising sexual services charges.
