51-year-old man dead after Lake Ontario boating incident

Hamilton police confirm that a 51-year-old man from the Hamilton area is dead after a boating incident on Lake Ontario today
Hamilton police say two adults and two children were on a vessel near Fisherman’s Pier by the Burlington Canal lift bridge when the boat made a maneuver and became swamped with water. Police say the 51-year-old man fell out of the boat just before 4 p.m. and went into the lake.
A number of other vessels came to their assistance and emergency services were called. Hamilton Beach rescue, both Hamilton and Halton marine units and paramedics along with Hamilton fire fighters and police took part in a joint operation to rescue the man.
The Hamilton fire department said he was pulled to shore and taken to hospital. Police confirm the man was pronounced dead.
The cause of death is being investigated. It may be drowning or a medical issue so the coroner continues their work tonight. The name of the victim has not been released.
