The province is bracing for a possible Liquor Control Board Workers’ strike leading up to the Canada Day festivities.
This morning the LCBO and OPSEU said they plan to negotiate around the clock leading up to deadline on Monday at 12:01 a.m. but the details of the bargaining are now under a “media blackout”.
The union won’t provide any information about the talks.
Both sides suggest stocking up and making purchases this weekend just in case a strike goes ahead on Monday.
The LCBO has extended store hours just in case.
In the event of a labour disruption the board is planning to provide some level of service across the province. The warehouses are run by unionized staff so store shelves could empty out fast having a major impact on restaurants and bars.
