RIM announces date for BB10 release
Blackberry fans have been waiting quite a while for these details.
After two rounds of delays, the release date is now set for January 30th. It’s been an uphill battle for waterloo-based research in motion over the last two years as they tried to compete against popular smartphones like the Apple iPhone and Samsung Galaxy.
In today’s announcement, RIM says full details on the new smartphones and their availability will be released at the January 30th event. But here’s what we know so far: two phones running the new operating system will be launched — one with a touchscreen, the other featuring the keyboard that a lot of Blackberry users know and love.
The new phones will also be faster, smoother and have all those apps that are now crucial to the success of modern smartphones.
RIM’s stock has fallen more than 90 percent from a peak of over $148 back in 2008 and even though its up, it’s still only hovering around $9. Meanwhile some analysts insist there’s no way the company can rebound.
