Fire destroys Brantford family’s home

A devastating house fire has left a family of four without a home.
Fire crews were called to the scene on Beverly Rd. in Brantford around 2:30 a.m.
Wasim Msheie and his wife managed to escape with their two small children after they heard the smoke alarms go off.
“We heard the fire alarm and smelled the smoke. So right away I took my babies…and took them away from the house,” said Msheie.
One neighbour brought the family into his home and provided them with clothes and blankets.
Firefighters used “a defensive attack” to battle the blaze because they knew no one was inside.
The fire has been put out but crews remain on scene to battle hotspots.
The damage is estimated at $300,000 and the home has been deemed unlivable.
The family has been take to a local hotel for shelter.
