50 vehicle batteries stolen in Welland

A 23-year-old man has been charged by police after a rash of vehicle battery thefts in Welland.

Police began investigating after several businesses had as many as 50 vehicle batteries stolen from their property.

Alex Thibeault is facing two counts of possession of stolen property under $5000.

Police have only located 20 of the stolen batteries and have identified more suspects believed to be involved in the thefts. They are asking anyone with information to contact the District Criminal Investigation Branch at 905-688-4111 ext. 3300.
