Waiting for all day GO service

It’s been over a year since the West Harbour GO station opened in Hamilton but there’s still no answer as to when all-day two-way go service will come to the city. 4 trains in and 4 trains out, that’s all the service Hamilton gets at the moment. The Minister of Transportation, Steven Del Duca who was in Oakville today, would not say when all-day go train service would be a reality.
“We know when we deploy more service on GO it gets taken up. It gets used that tells us people want more. We are working hard to deliver more as we promised.” Steven Del Duca.
The minister says GO currently offers 1500 trips across the rail line, only 8 of which come to Hamilton. According to GO train president Greg Percy, it is not as simple as adding trains to the line.
“You can only have so much trains before you see the congestion on the tracks. We have to build the infrastructure more tracks more bridges to enable more trains to happen.Greg Percy.
The province did not say when the track work would be finished. Earlier this year the province announced GO train service to the Niagara area with stations in Grimsby, St.Catharines and Niagara Falls. But that won’t be finished until 2023.
