Shortly after 4 pm, police received a call about a serious collision and fire in the Toronto-bound lanes of the QEW near Fruitland Road. Two transport trucks and pick-up truck were completely engulfed in flames, sending thick, black smoke into the air. At one point, all lanes, eastbound and westbound, were closed.

Police believe a wheel on one of the transport trucks had some kind of failure, which caused it to veer towards the left. they say it smashed into the side of another transport truck, which then pinned a pick-up truck against the left guard rail.

All three vehicles were engulfed in flames and the fire was so intense, the trailer of one of the transport trucks melted onto the road surface.

Amazingly, no one was seriously injured.
