True Hamiltonian

Just about everywhere you look in Steel Town, someone is wearing a “Made in Hamilton” t-shirt. The proudly Hamilton initiative has taken off this year, and was started by Max Francis who moved to the city more than 20 years ago and fell in love with everything it has to offer. He was tired of people in Toronto putting down Hamilton,
“Everyone there would ask me where I’m from, I’d say Hamilton and they’d give me a dirty look. So I decided to wear a shirt that said I love Hamilton everytime I went to Toronto.”
That was four years ago and now Max is running “True Hamiltonian” a growing t-shirt business. Simple messages like “Hamilton is Home” and a “hammer” logo have been extremely popular. He’s sold over 5000 shirts, most of those within the last year when he started making them full time. Max prints and sells his True Hamiltonian shirts at Centre[3] and you can also buy them on the True Hamiltonian website, and at a few other spots in the city including Sexton in the City on King street West.
Natalie Sexton saw people wearing the shirts on-line, and was immediately drawn to them.
“Hamilton is a really amazing place to live, we do have fashion, great food, culture, it’s an awesome place and we really rally together as Hamiltonians, and that message is right here on this shirt.”
A simple search of Instagram, will show you Hamiltonians are proudly wearing the shirts around the world. A True Hamiltonian shop will be opening up on Ottawa street next week.
