Man dead in Stoney Creek house fire

Harjinder Singh Bhullar, 66 has been identified as the man who died in the Stoney Creek fire overnight.

Just before 9:30 last night emergency crews were called to a residence on 5th Road East between Highland Road and Mud Street in the south-west side of Stoney Creek. When they arrived heavy smoke and fire could be seen shooting through the roof of the home. Once they were able to get access inside they found Bhullar, who was unresponsive. He was rushed to hospital, and that is where he died.

Two firefighters were also injured in the blaze. They were both taken to hospital- one with an ankle injury and the other for a shoulder injury. Both will be okay.

Police believe the cause is not suspicious but investors continue to look for what may have sparked the fire.
