A hike at Albion Falls turned tragic over the weekend, after a man fell to his death in front of his family. The news of the man’s death caught the attention of Corey Dixon, who’s recovering from severe injuries since he fell off the edge of a trail at Albion Falls in February. He says this weekend’s tragedy should be a wake up call for the city to do more.

Five months ago, Dixon and his friends were hiking along the trails when he slipped on ice and plundge 30-feet to the bottom of the falls. He ruptured an artery in his heart, broke over 30 bones in his body and suffered a stroke leaving him sensitive to light. Since then, Dixon has called for more fencing around the falls saying there are ways to protect visitors without impeding on the beauty.

The waterfall is owned and managed by the city of Hamilton. They told CHCH “we will be conducting a review of the incident that occurred at Albion Falls over the weekend to determine if additional measures are required.”
