Hamilton man arrested after driving a stolen vehicle at police officer

A 30 year old man has been arrested after he drove a stolen vehicle at a police officer.
On March 24th just after 1 am police responded to reports of at least two individuals trying to steal licence plates from a car in the area of Victoria Avenue North and Birge Street.
When the officer arrived the two suspects got into the car and drove it towards the officer. Luckily he got out of the way and was not injured. The officer struck the window with a baton causing it to break, hoping it would stop the car, but the suspects drove off.
Another officer in the area of Jarvis Street saw the car in an alley way. The two suspects began running away on foot when the officer approached the. The officer was able to arrest the driver who fought with the officer throughout the arrest in an attempt to escape, but the passenger escaped the area and avoided arrest.
The car was reported stolen from Quebec.
Daniel Letchford, from Hamilton, is charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, possesion of burglary tools and fail to comply probation.
