A group of Niagara Falls students is bringing awareness to teen suicide with an award-winning film.
Niagara regional police held their third annual film festival, with high schools participating from across the region. More than 20 videos were submitted at this year’s festival from 17 different schools.
Students were challenged to create a 30 second public service announcement about teen suicide prevention. The submissions varied in style and creativity, but the message was all the same. According to the Ontario Association for suicide prevention, suicide is the second leading cause of death for Canadians between the ages of 10 and 24.
The winning team will not only have bragging rights but their 30 second video will be put on the big screen at Landmark cinemas and the winners will also be featured on CHCH Morning Live next month
