The closing arguments for the Jian Ghomeshi trial could be pushed back a day. Despite Ghomeshi’s legal team’s concerns, the judge has allowed a fourth crown witness’ statement to be brought forward.

The crown says the woman, who is protected by a publication ban, was contacted by her friend Lucy DeCoutere about ten years ago regarding her alleged assault by Ghomeshi while on a date in 2003 where she says he choked and slapped her repeatedly.

DeCoutere, made famous by her roles in the ‘Trailer Park Boys’ franchise, testified against Ghomeshi last week.

Ghomeshi’s lawyers say that she made up her story from the beginning and bringing in the other witness won’t make a difference. But after an hour to review, the judge gave the green-light to add the fourth witness.
