Menopause is a right of passage for all women. The symptoms usually start sometime between the ages of 40 and 60 and the average age is 52.

A clinical study at St. Jospehs Health Care in Hamilton is teaching women how to cope with the side effects through cognitive behaviour therapy. It provides women with the tools and techniques to help manage the effects of menopause. One of those is “pace respiration” which is a breathing technique that has been proven to help with hot flashes, anxiety, and sleep disorders.

You don’t need a referral to get into the OHIP funded program, just call St. Josephs healthcare and ask to speak with the women’s health concerns clinic.
