Hamilton fire chief stepping down

Hamilton Fire Service, Chief Rob Simonds is stepping down. Simonds will be the next chief administrative officer of Colchester county, Nova Scotia beginning in April. Simonds is from Atlantic Canada and he says this is an opportunity to be closer to his family.

He says he’s particularly proud of the partnerships his department developed with industrial and commercial operators.

Simonds’ announcement comes after two other high-profile city employees left their jobs. Police Chief Glenn De Care left to take over as head of security and parking at McMaster University and the City of Hamilton’s Director of Communications, Mike Kirkopoulos left to become CAO of the town of Lincoln mid December.
