After team Canada’s Junior team failed to medal this week in Finland, the country’s hopes are now on the shoulders of our women’s junior team. As that international tourney gets underway, team Canada will be playing every game in front of a home crowd as it’s all happening in St.Catharines.
Starting Friday, eight of the best hockey nations in the world will compete in the 2016 International Hockey under 18 Women’s World Championships at the Meridian Centre. Team Canada is set to have home ice advantage throughout the tournament throughout their pursuit for their fifth gold medal.
The last time Canada hosted the under 18 Women’s World Championship was in 2008 in Calgary where they raised $30 000 in ticket sales. This year in St. Catharines they’re already at $200 000.
