The new year is here and we’re dealing with a new and bitterly cold weather system, but it’s the kind of weather we knew as inevitable.

The freezing conditions led to most cities around the region issuing their first cold weather alerts of the season. A cold weather alert is issued when the temperature drops to -15 or -20 with the wind chill. Last winter’s first alert came on January 7th, we went on to see a total of 39 cold weather alerts issued.

We sent our Sean Leathong out to see how people are dealing with the cold… and he was pleasantly surprised.
