Alleged human trafficker faces multiple charges: Halton police

A 36-year-old man is facing a slew of human trafficking-related charges following an investigation by Halton police.

Jumanne Salmon, of Pickering, is accused of forcing, exploiting and transferring a woman from hotel to hotel to work in the sex trade between 2012 and 2017.

It’s alleged he moved the woman across multiple jurisdictions including Burlington, Mississauga, Brampton, and Kitchener during that time.

Police discovered Salmon was already in custody at the Hamilton-Wentworth Detention Centre for an unrelated matter and brought him to a Milton court.

He has been charged with trafficking in persons, receive material benefit from trafficking in persons, exercise control over a prostitute, living off the avails of prostitution, procuring – exercise control, direction or influence, receive a material benefit from sexual services, assault, and uttering threats to cause death.
