6 arrested in Halton after $250K of stolen property found

Halton police have arrested six Montreal residents after roughly $250,000 worth of stolen property was found.
Back in July, police noticed an increase in daytime residential break and enters in Halton region.
The incidents happened in the area of Upper Middle Rd. and Eighth Line in Oakville, as well as near Guelph Line and South Dr. in Burlington.
In most cases, someone would knock on the front door to see if anyone was home. If no one answered, the suspects would go to the back of the house and smash the patio doors. Once inside, they ransacked the home and fled to awaiting vehicles.
A suspect was identified after a Burlington resident gave police a licence plate number that was captured on surveillance video.
On Friday, police arrested six people who were staying at an Airbnb in Mississauga. Officers recovered the stolen property after searching vehicles associated with the group.
Chan Tan, 29, Kenny Brito Rosales, 30, Denis Rufino Mejia Garcia, 28, Alex Narcesso Barquero Morales, 27, Luis Felipe Horta Zamora, 29, and Carlos Mauricio Mejia Olmos, 32, face charges in connection with the break-ins. They have all been held in custody.
Police believe the group may have conducted similar break-ins across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). Halton police say they are currently liaising with other police services.
Investigators are asking any residents who reported a break and enter between July 1 and August 2 to contact police. They are hoping to reunite the victims with their property.
