A 30-year-old man is in hospital after he and his motorcycle were thrown 40 metres following a collision in Oakville.

Police say the man was driving eastbound on Wyecroft Rd. near the GO Station around 6:22 p.m. Wednesday.

A sedan travelling in the opposite direction made a left turn in front of the motorcycle, and the vehicles collided.

The rider and his motorcycle ended up more than 40 metres away from where they were initially hit.

The motorcyclist was taken transported to hospital with a broken leg and minor lacerations.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit was called in to investigate.

The driver of the sedan, a man in his fifties, has been charged in the collision. He is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

The roadway was closed for several hours but has since been reopened.
