HAPPENING NOW:

Trans fats and stroke risk

Post-menopausal women who consume high amounts of trans fats could be increasing their risk for stroke.

A study found women with the highest trans fat intake were 39% more likely to suffer a stroke, compared to those who consumed the lowest amounts.

The study also found aspirin use may help counteract the effects of a diet high in trans fats.

However, this study found no link between stroke risk and other types of fat or dietary cholesterol.
