HAPPENING NOW:
Lawsuit thrown out
A judge has thrown out a $2 billion class action lawsuit by Tim Hortons franchisees who wanted to raise the price of doughnuts.
They argued Tim Hortons wasn’t charging enough, but the judge has ruled that under the Tim Hortons system, the franchisees are given a licence to sell Tim Hortons trademarked coffee and products.
The ruling says what matters is that the franchisees make enough profit to justify their investment and stay in business.
The court has left the pricing of products in the control of Tim Hortons.
