Massage inflammation

Even a short 10-minute massage can be enough to help reduce muscle inflammation….

McMaster researchers studied muscle tissue samples taken from eleven young men after they had exercised on a stationary bike.

They also took tissue samples ten minutes and two-and-half hours after a massage.

They found the massage lowered levels of inflammation and improved the rate at which new cells grew in skeletal muscle; both of which help alleviate pain.

Researchers say this study proves massage may be a justified medical procedure for patients with muscle injuries or inflammatory diseases.
