Two Toronto councillors charged under Municipal Elections Act

Ontario Provincial Police have charged two Toronto councillors under the Municipal Elections Act.
The charges date back to the 2014 election and relate to filing an incorrect or invalid document.
OPP began their investigation in September 2017, after receiving a request for assistance from Toronto Police.
Police were first referred to the case by the Toronto’s Integrity Commissioner.
Mark Grimes and Justin Di Ciano have been charged.
Grimes, 57, was re-elected in the new Etobicoke-Lakeshore ward last month.
Di Ciano, 40, did not run for re-election this year.
Both are scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 19.
