Germs on unused paper towels

A new study at Laval University in Quebec has discovered a hidden danger that could be lurking in public bathrooms.

Researchers say unused paper towels in wall dispensers are crawling with germs, and recycled towels are the most heavily contaminated with up to a thousand times more bacteria.

They say bacteria may thrive in recycled paper because it contains binding ingredients like starches and fillers that serve as food to the germs.
