Norovirus closes wards in two hospitals

For a while now we’ve known it as the Norwalk virus – named for the town where it originated: Norwalk, Ohio.

But since it first surfaced, numerous strains have been detected, triggering a name change to Norovirus. one thing that hasn’t changed: its ability to spread easily.

It’s important to remember when you start feeling better after being hit by this virus, you need to stay home for another 48 hours, to help prevent transmission.

Handwashing is critical. Health officials say often when people are using hand sanitizers, they only wash the palms of the hand. But the top surface of the hands, as well as between the fingers also need to be thoroughly cleaned.
