Police asking for witnesses to fatal Grimsby crash

A young mother has died after a head-on collision in Grimsby.

Family members confirmed that 32-year old Sherri Marritt-Ploughman was killed when her sedan smashed into an on-coming minivan on Mountain road between Elm Tree and Kemp rds.

Her 13-year old son was taken to McMaster hospital where his family says he’s recovering from several cuts and a broken leg.

Merritt-Ploughman lived in Smithville and her family has called the small town home for generations.

The passengers inside the van and a third car were treated for minor injuries.

Police haven’t revealed how the crash occurred.
