Milton couple charged in failed ATM heist

A married couple from Milton has been charged in a failed ATM heist earlier this month.
Halton Regional Police say a man and woman entered a business on Harrop Dr. in Milton around midnight on June 1.
The man walked into the open lobby area of the business and attempted to drill and pry open an ATM, while the woman acted as a lookout.
After repeated attempts to pry open the ATM he attached a towing strap to a pick-up truck and made several more attempts to rip the machine open, police said.
The pair remained at the location for over an hour and eventually left without getting any cash.
Police say they destroyed the ATM, which is worth about $2,500.
Investigators have identified the pair as James Matthew Tingley, 46, and Tina Louise Tingley, 33.
They were arrested earlier this week without incident.
The couple are facing charges of theft under $5,000, mischief under $5,000 and possession of burglary tools.
