Halton officer sentenced for stealing drugs from evidence

A Halton Regional Police officer who pleaded guilty to breach of trust has been given a conditional discharge with three years probation.
Brad Murray was arrested and charged in May 2017, following an internal audit and independent investigation into anomalies in the service’s drug vault.
In April, Brad Murray pleaded guilty to stealing opioids from an evidence locker, which put a number of cases in jeopardy.
Murray is a 16-year veteran of the Halton Police Service.
He is still facing discipline under the Police Services Act, where he could be fired.
He remains suspended with pay, which is the only suspension currently allowed under the act.
