Crash involving HSR bus leaves one dead

Update: 19-year-old Moe Deeb has been identified by friends as the man who was killed when his car crashed into an HSR bus just before midnight Saturday.

A 19-year-old Hamilton man is dead after his car crashed into an HSR bus late last night.

The man’s car was travelling west on Lawrence Road when it failed to negotiate a curve, crashing into an HSR bus that was travelling south on Gage Avenue.

It happened just before midnight.

Emergency crews responded, rushing the teen driver of the vehicle to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

There were three passengers in the car. Police say they are expected to be okay.

The cause of the crash is still being investigated. Police are looking at all factors including speed and alcohol.

Police say this is the second driver death and the fourth overall fatality so far this year.
