Woman stabbed in head in central Hamilton

Hamilton police are investigating after a 53-year-old woman was stabbed in the head in what police believe was a random attack.
It happened shortly before 7 p.m. Sunday near Cannon St. East and Tisdale St. North.
Police say the woman was walking westbound on Cannon St. when she passed an unknown man. The man turned around and assaulted the victim several times with a “sharp object to her head.”
The suspect then fled on foot, running southbound on Steven St. and then down an alleyway.
The woman was taken to Hamilton General Hospital and treated for minor injuries. She has since been released.
A large area was taped off by police while members of the Hamilton Police Forensics teams investigated the incident. The area has since reopened.
