The Ontario Fire Marshal has been called in to investigate after a fire caused extensive damage to a home on Hamilton Mountain.

Crews were called to 23 Dubarry Blvd. near Upper Ottawa St. and Mohawk Rd. shortly after 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Fire Safety Officer Claudio Mostacci said the fire was venting out of the front window when crews arrived and heavy smoke was coming through the roof.

One resident made his way outside of the home but appeared to be disoriented. He initially told crews there may be four people in the home but after firefighters searched the residence they determined no one else was inside.

The man was treated on scene by Hamilton Paramedics.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined and there is no estimate on damages.
