Man who sold guns to Dellen Millard sentenced

The Toronto man who sold Dellen Millard the gun used to kill Tim Bosma has been sentenced to 11 years in jail.

In June, Matthew Ward-Jackson pleaded guilty to trafficking three firearms to Millard in 2012 and possessing a machine gun.

One of the firearms was a Walther PPK handgun, which was used to kill 32-year-old Bosma in May 2013.

Millard and Mark Smich were convicted of first-degree murder in Bosma’s death.

The Crown was asking for 13 years for Ward-Jackson but the judge settled on 11 years, noting that he showed remorse by pleading guilty.

The 30-year-old got just over six years credit for time already spent in custody, plus another 16-months for harsh conditions at Toronto South Detention Centre where he spent 488 days in lockdown.

With that credit, he will spend another three years and seven months in custody.

He is prohibited from possessing any weapon for life and will have to provide a DNA sample.
