Two pedestrians struck in St. Catharines

Two pedestrians have critical injuries after being hit by vehicles in separate incidents in St. Catharines.
The first incident happened around 6 p.m. Thursday, on Niagara St., near Geneva St.
Police say a 32-year-old woman who was crossing Niagara St. stepped into the path of a car.
She suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital in critical condition.
The 82-year-old man driving the car was not injured.
Just before 10 p.m. police were called to Dieppe Rd., near Neilson Ave.
A 21-year-old man was struck by an SUV, which was being driven by a 72-year-old man.
The pedestrian was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and is in critical condition.
The collision reconstruction unit is investigating both incidents.
