Body found near Stelco building in Hamilton

Hamilton Police are investigating after a man was found dead in the city’s east end.

Officers were called to Burlington St. and Gage Ave. N. around 3 a.m. Friday, after a passerby noticed a possible body near the Stelco building.

Police have identified the body as that of a 26-year-old man from Hamilton.

Police say it’s too early to say if the cold was a factor in the death.

Overnight temperatures hovered around -20 degrees overnight, with a windchill closer to -30 degrees.

An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.
