Hamilton police say two puppies who were found wandering outside in the cold have been reunited with their owners.

On Sunday, officer Mike Logue and his Mental Health Worker partner Sarah Burtenshaw of the Hamilton Police Service’s Mobile Crisis Rapid Response Team (MCRRT) were patrolling the streets when they saw a man and woman suddenly jump out of a car and start running.

The officers soon realized the pair were chasing after two small black puppies who were on the loose.

With the help of the police officers, the man and woman managed to capture the animals.

The puppies were turned over to Animal Control and were reunited with their owners a short time later.

It’s still unknown how the puppies escaped from their owners before being captured by police and the residents.
