A snow squall warning is in effect for Hamilton and Halton, while parts of Niagara are under a winter weather travel advisory.

Environment Canada says snow squalls are expected today, causing significantly reduced visibility.

Visibility will be near zero at times in snow and blowing snow, especially along the QEW between Burlington and Stoney Creek.

Snowfall amounts between ten and 15 centimetres are expected before the snow tapers off in the afternoon.

The City of Hamilton had been under a cold weather alert but that was cancelled around 9:30 a.m.

These alerts are issued when temperatures are at or below -15 Celsius or -20 with the wind chill.

A winter weather travel advisory in effect for parts of Niagara, including St. Catharines and Grimsby.
