Ontario reports 1,265 COVID-19 cases, 33 deaths as students return to class

Ontario reported 1,265 cases of COVID-19 and 33 deaths on Monday, as schools in most of the province reopened for in-class learning.
The numbers come as the province completed 28,303 tests and puts the reported positivity rate, which takes into account the date tests were done, at 4.4 per cent.
Another 6,987 doses of COVID-19 vaccines were administered on Sunday. As of 8 p.m., a total of 386,171 doses have been given in the province.
There are 106,163 people who have received both required shots and are fully vaccinated.

There are 901 patients in hospital with COVID-19, including 335 in intensive care. Of those, 226 are on ventilators.
The death toll is 6,538 people. There are 219 confirmed cases of the U.K. variant of the virus and one confirmed case of the South African variant.
Another 1,700 cases of the virus have been marked as resolved.
