How new drugs are perceived
A new American study shows most of us don’t understand that newer isn’t always better, when it comes to recently approved medications.
A survey of 3,000 people found one quarter of them believed the FDA only approves drugs without serious side effects, while 39% thought only extremely effective drugs are approved.
The truth is an FDA approval means the benefits of a drug are thought to outweigh any potential harm, but questions about its safety and effectiveness can remain for several years.
